Here we have a legendary chocolate cake that has a layer of apricot jam. Usually served with a little whipped cream. The original recipe is said to have been created by Franz Sacher (1832) but exactly what this recipe looked like is not known.

How close to the original recipe this recipe comes is anyone's guess, but it is definitely a good cake nonetheless. It is not particularly difficult to make either.

The cake is best kept cool rather than cold.

  5. Pour the batter into a springform pan (20-22 cm diameter) that is either greased and floured or covered with baking paper.
