So, the falukorv was cheap again and of course I made a gratin. A simple gratin with sliced falukorv in a sauce with cream, creme fraiche, ketchup, mustard and stock cube. A generous load of cheese on top of everything and then it's time for the oven - quick and easy.

I think this is a good dish for when you can't be bothered to do anything else, but you can change a few small things to get even better taste. For example, you can fry the sausage a little lightly before it goes into the gratin dish. You can also have a chopped pickled cucumber in the sauce which gives even more flavor. And as usual, you can add a little heat in the form of cayenne pepper or something else you like, such as chili jam. Here I just choose what I think is the simplest base so you can experiment more later.

The time in the oven can vary a lot here so the best thing is to check regularly. In my oven, with a baking dish that is 30x20cm, it takes about 40 minutes for the gratin to be ready. Sometimes I can give it an extra minute under the grill element too. The cheese should have got a little color and the gratin should bubble a little - then it is ready.

I like to serve this gratin with mashed potatoes and a light salad. It works just as well with boiled rice. I also tried pasta which I thought was OK, but I preferred potatoes or rice.
